3 Fishermen From Buru Island Found Stranded In The Sula Maluku Islands
AMBON - Three fishermen from Buru Island, Maluku Province, who were reported missing in contact three days ago were found stranded in the waters of Lifmatola Island in the Sula Islands Regency, North Maluku.
"They were found safe by the local community, although their bodies were weak," said Ambon Search and Rescue Office Head Mustari in Ambon City as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 25.
He explained that rescue teams from the Namlea SAR Post together with elements of the potential SAR have been deployed to find three fishermen who on Monday (22.5) reported missing the contact, namely Yano (35), Supri (33), and Lama la Onyong (32).
The joint SAR team that has not been able to find the three fishermen after two days of searching plans to continue the search on Thursday (25/5).
However, on Wednesday (24/5) at 21:42 WIT, the Namlea SAR Coordinator received information from the Head of the Operations Section of the Ternate Basarnas in North Maluku that the three fishermen from Buru Island were found stranded in the waters of Lifmatola Island by residents.
Residents then evacuated them to Waisum Village in Sula Islands Regency.
The three fishermen departed from Namleadi City, Buru Island, Maluku Province, to Manipa Island in West Seram Regency to help repair the engine of the damaged brother's longboat around the waters of Manipa Island on May 22, 2023 at around 17.00 WIT.

After the ship was repaired and the owner returned to Namlea City, the engines of the three fishermen's longboats were damaged and they were drifting in the sea for about two days.
They then received help from residents in the Sula Islands.
The three fishermen, after resting and receiving supplies of fuel, plan to leave for the island of Sanana, then continue their journey back to Namlea City if the weather is good.
