Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani Indrawati held a bilateral meeting with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) President Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser, during a series of working visits in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia at the end of last week.

In his statement, the Minister of Finance expressed his appreciation for his support for Indonesia's Special Capital Increase (SCI) to IsDB.

"As one of the founding countries, the Indonesian government certainly wants to be a stronger partner to be able to increase its role, carry out reforms, and achieve mandates for the interests of all members," he said as reported by the official website today, Monday, May 15.

According to him, the entry of Indonesia as one of the main shareholders is expected to strengthen IsDB's capital.

"Indonesia has a role to play in increasing loan capacity, increasing its role in helping member countries, and realizing the welfare of Muslims," he said.

It was stated that during the meeting, the Minister of Finance also discussed IsDB's support for the food crisis and climate change issues. Both of them also discussed the collaboration of South-South Partnership (SSP) through PT SMI's blended finance and also the procurement of supply chains for Hajj and Umrah.

For information, IsDB is the only multilateral financial institution that provides financing with sharia principles.

"IsDB plays a very important role in encouraging social economic development in member countries and Muslim communities in general," closed the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani.
