West Kalimantan Police Failed To Smuggle 6.3Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine At Supadio Airport
The West Kalimantan Regional Police thwarted the smuggling of 6.3 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine tucked away by its carrier courier in a two-laptop, before flying to Jakarta with the final destination of Surabaya.
A total of 6.3 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine was secured from a man from Pontianak City with the initials MR (45).
Deputy Director of Drug Investigation at the West Kalimantan Police, AKBP Abdul Hafiz, explained that his party and the Interdicion Team arrested MR on Sunday (16/3). The confiscated goods were then destroyed using an incinerator today.
The joint interaction team from the West Kalimantan Regional Police's Narcotics Directorate together with the West Kalimantan Province BNN, West Kalimantan DJBC Regional Office, AVSEC Supadio Airport Kubu Raya and Supadio Air Base.
"We received information that a man was carrying methamphetamine to be sent to Java Island," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, May 4.
MR courier was arrested while AVSEC officers were conducting an x-ray inspection. Officers found suspicious items in a suitcase.
Then the officers searched the suitcase and found 6 packs of crystal methamphetamine tucked between the two laptops. The courier was about to make an air trip by becoming a business class passenger.
"The modus operandi used by the perpetrators was to insert 6 packs of methamphetamine between two laptop units which were put into a suitcase," said AKBP Abdul Hafiz.

After the examination, these methamphetamine-type narcotics came from Malaysia and will be sent to Jakarta and Surabaya with a salary of Rp. 20 million.
"Currently, an investigation is still underway, that suspect MR works as a courier with a salary of Rp. 20 million. The suspect MR is picked up by someone and given a ticket to fly to Jakarta and then Surabaya," he said.
The police have detected the drug network since 2019, and until now it is still investigating the network.
"Currently, 6.3 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine from Malaysia has been destroyed with an incinerator engine that has previously been tested," said Abdul Hafiz.
