Deputy Governor Calls 2.9 Million Partauts Who Go Home To West Sumatra Bring Rp3 Trillion
Deputy Governor (Deputy Governor) of West Sumatra (West Sumatra) Audi Djoinaldi admitted that until April 25, 2023, the number of migrants entering the province reached 2.9 million people and this certainly had a considerable economic impact on this area.
"The number of these migrants increased by around 135 percent from the number of migrants entering West Sumatra during Eid al-Fitr 2022," he said at the closing of the Muaro Padang Festival in Padang, West Sumatra, Thursday, April 27, as reported by Antara.
He said this had an impact on the additional number of flights to West Sumatra which was quite high during Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijri homecoming.
"This West Sumatra is the third most targeted area during Eid al-Fitr. The first is to Bali's Ngurah Rai Airport, the second is Medan Kualanamu Airport and the third is Minangkabau International Airport," he said.
Meanwhile, from the data issued by IPB, tourists who visit West Sumatra will spend an average of IDR 1.660,000 per person when they visit the province.
"If we calculate the circulation of money in West Sumatra, it will certainly reach more than IDR 3 trillion," he said.
According to him, most of the money was circulated in Padang City, which is the destination area for most tourist visits during Eid al-Fitr, then Bukittinggi, Tanah Datar and others.
He also claimed that this year's Eid al-Fitr holiday in West Sumatra was more orderly and successful, although the number of visits increased but everything went well, especially with the application of a one-way route or one-way from the Sicincin area to Bukittinggi.
"This is the collaboration of all parties in the success of the Eid al-Fitr holiday in West Sumatra this year and this is a mutual success," he said.
Previously, the Directorate of Traffic (Ditlantas) of the West Sumatra Police stated that the implementation of a one way system or one-way system on the Padang-Bukittinggi route succeeded in reducing congestion times during the Eid 1444 Hijri holiday.
Director of Traffic (Dirlantas) of the West Sumatra Police Kombes Pol Hilman Wijaya in Padang said the implementation of the one way system Monday, April 25, officially ended and the results of the evaluation carried out were successful in reducing the length of time on the road.

According to him, after seven days of one-way implementation, the route that used to take up to seven hours during the Eid al-Fitr 2022 holiday can now be cut by only a few hours during Eid al-Fitr 2023.
According to him, traffic jams on the route could not be avoided because the number of vehicles entering West Sumatra had increased significantly while there was no increase in existing roads.
"In total there are 60,000 vehicles entering West Sumatra, from homecoming to Eid al-Fitr holidays. Thank God this implementation went smoothly and managed to reduce travel time," he said.
He emphasized that the implementation of the one way system will not be extended, but the Traffic Unit in each region will carry out traffic engineering in the face of traffic situations.
"We urge all motorists to stay focused on driving and obey all traffic rules so that they arrive at their destination," he said.
