Minister Of Transportation Budi Will Move Flight Routes From Husein Bandung Airport To Kertajati

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi plans to transfer flight routes from Husein Sastranegara Airport, Bandung, West Java to Kertajati Airport.

This plan was carried out to revive the airport.

As is known, Kertajati Airport in Majalengka, West Java, is said to be living reluctant to die or not.

However, thanks to encouragement from various airports, this began to stretch.

It will even serve international routes for Umrah and regular flights with the aim of going to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

"Later on, all jets and propellers will operate in Kertajati. Meanwhile, Husein Bandung Airport will serve VVIP aircraft and private jets," he said in an official statement, Sunday, April 9.

Budi said the plan was still in the coordination stage with related parties. Budi said, this plan is predicted to be realized for a long time.

"But this year the propeller aircraft will still operate at Husein Airport," he said.

On this occasion, Budi together with PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono accompanied the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Muhadjir Effendy, to review the readiness of Kertajati Airport which will soon serve Umrah, Hajj, and regular flights.

He admitted that he had assigned PT Angkasa Pura II to help ensure the readiness of Kertajati Airport services.

AP II already has experience in cooperation with GMR India as did at Kualanamu Airport. Kertajati Airport will become a hub airport in West Java. The location is also close to Patimban Port which will later be as big as Tanjung Priok Port. So this is very strategic," said Budi.

Meanwhile, Minister Basuki revealed, at the end of May 2023 the 65 Km Cileunyi-Sumedang-Dawuan (Cisumdawu) toll road is targeted to be fully operational.

This toll road will facilitate community mobility to Kertajati Airport.

"From Bandung to Cisumdawu only one hour. This will support Kertajati Airport as a new hub," he said.

Coordinating Minister Muhadjir Effendy hopes that the completion of the Cisumdawu toll road access will further facilitate accessibility to and from Kertajati Airport.

For your information, the management of Kertajati Airport, namely PT BIJB and Angkasa Pura II, stated that airport facilities are ready to serve passengers and aircraft movements for both Umrah, Hajj, and regular.

A number of facilities prepared include a 3,000-m long runway that can accommodate large aircraft (wide body), aircraft parking area that can accommodate up to 22 aircraft, passenger terminal area, vehicle parking, prayer room, air conditioning, air conditioning, CCTV, fuel stock, and other facilities.

Kertajati Airport will soon serve Umrah charter flights on the Kertajati (KJT)-Medinah (MED) route on April 15, 2023, using Lion Air flight code JT-068 with an Airbus A330-300 aircraft. Then on May 9, 2023, following Garuda Indonesia airlines will also serve Umrah flights from Kertajati.
