JAKARTA - German tuning company ABT recently developed one of VW's newest electric vans, ID. Buzz by adding a solar module roof that provides extra power from the sun.

The car was developed by ABT's electric car development division, e-Line, the solar module is designed to be used in long-wheeled axis distance versions, such as Volkswagen ID. Buzz.

However, buyers can expect that the power generated from this solar module reaches up to 600 watts when all conditions are optimal. It is estimated that the energy that can be generated by the roof panel must be sufficient to cover a distance of 1,865 miles per year (3,001 km per year) without a power grid connection.

What's more, ABT is developing a side panel. If the planned side panel reaches production, it is likely that the figure will increase to 1,000 watts with a range of more than 2,000 miles per year (3,218 km per year).

However, the tuning company can see that the use of the panel is not only used to charge vehicles. But also, it can power refrigerators, interior lighting and other facilities on ID. Buzz.

ABT estimates that it will prepare the solar module in early 2024 and will cooperate with Volkswagen to carry out installations inside the factory. This means that logistical barriers will be minimized and prices will be lower. However, the manufacturer has not yet notified of the price to be available.
