The Disney+ original drama series was directed and written by Kang Yoon-seong, who previously worked on The Outlaws (2017) which was a box-office success.
In the first season, which aired in December 2022, Big Bet focuses on the life of Cha Moo-sik (Choi Min-sik) with all the dark events he experienced from childhood, to his struggles up and down running a casino bar business.
His casino bar business was also a success. Cha Moo-sik earned a huge income thanks to his ingenuity. Apparently, it was smelled by the national tax service. He then fled to the Philippines.
In the Philippines, Cha Moo-sik devises a strategy to win the hearts of big men in political and business circles. He also opened a complete casino business and successfully attracted many people to visit and spend their money.
One day, Cha Moo-sik is accused of being involved in a murder case. He was then investigated by the police. In fact, South Korea brought Oh Seung-hoon (Son Seok-gu) to investigate Cha Moo-sik,
The end of the first season of Big Bet focused on the chaos that occurred, among others because Kim So-jung (Seon Eun-seo) and Philip (Lee Hae-woo) were planning something, as well as Seo Tae-seok's (Heo Sung-tae) hatred of Cha Moo Sik. The story is still hanging, causing many questions in the minds of the audience.
In the second season, Cha Moo-sik will continue to gamble his life with everything he has achieved. The first episode begins with the scene of Seo Tae-seok visiting Cha Moo-sik's house with a gun in his hand.
Luckily, Cha Moo-sik managed to grab the gun and beat Seo Tae-seok. He also asked Seo Tae-seok to leave the Philippines within 72 hours if he didn't want to be killed.
Seo Tae-seok then went to Han Sung-il (Lee Sung-won) for help. He also meets Ko Young-hee (Lee Hye-young) who still holds a grudge against Cha Moo-sik due to the incident at the casino bar.
Ko Young-hee then asked Seo Tae-seok to kill Cha Moo-sik for 1 billion Won. Without thinking twice, Seo Tae-seok went straight to Cha Moo-sik's casino, but instead, he got into a fight with the Chinese jungkook.
In this second season, Cha Moo-sik was also accused of being involved in the murder of Min Seok-jun (Kim Hong-pa). He also returned to Korea to prove his innocence.
But by the time he returned to the Philippines, things had changed. While he was gone, it seemed that many people were acting as if they were rulers and everyone was suspicious of one another. Cha Moo-sik also feels that the people around him are starting to betray and attack each other.
Quoted from ANTARA, the second season of Big Bet shows the increasingly complex problems experienced by its characters. The story is also getting more interesting as the plot shows that not everyone who is close to us can always be trusted, because every human being has their own ego and often looks for various ways to "feed" their ego.
In fact, people who previously had good intentions and had authority in eradicating people who broke the law, in fact, can be easily "bought" with money.
If the first season seemed slow and relaxed because the director wanted to build a good story premise, in the second season it's just the opposite.
By contrast, the director seems to be trying more to make the groove and each scene is tenser. The action scenes are even more frontal and daring, making it even more interesting to follow.

Because he wanted to highlight the conflict, the director did not give time to re-introduce the existing characters and their backgrounds to the new audience.
So, it will be difficult for you if you want to watch the second season without watching the first season first to get to know the characters and what they do, and what problems they face, in order to understand the storyline.
Regarding the quality of the acting of the players, of course there is no need to doubt it. Since the first season, the actors in this series have succeeded in bringing their respective characters very lively without the term "responsibility".
Not surprisingly, Big Bet is filled with seasoned actors. Choi Min-sik, who plays Cha Moo-sik, is a senior actor who has been working since 1989.
Despite being absent from dramas for 25 years, Choi Min-sik continues to exist starring in many films, such as Oldboy (2003), I Saw the Devil (2010), New World (2013), In My End is My Beginning (2013), The Admiral: Roaring Currents (2014), The Mayor (2017), and Astronomy (2019).
Apart from Choi Min-sik, Son Seok-gu who plays Oh Seung-hoon has also starred in many titles, such as the film The Roundup (2022), drama Be Melodramatic (2019), Jirisan (2021), and the popular drama My Liberation Notes.
