EA Officially Removes Apex Legends Mobile Game Starting May 2nd
JAKARTA - Publisher Electronic Arts (EA) and developer Respawn have confirmed that the mobile game Apex Legends will be discontinued on May 2, 2023.
In a statement shared on its official website, Respawn revealed that the mobile game Apex Legends no longer meets game standards that provide consistency in games.
"Following such a strong start, the content pipeline for Apex Legends Mobile has begun to fall short of those standards for quality, quantity, and rhythm. It is for these reasons that, after months of working with our development partners, we have made the joint decision to retire our mobile game," wrote the studio.
Although this announcement is quite disappointing, Respawn admits that they are proud of the game they have launched, and are grateful for the support of the Apex Legends community, so far.
Ninety (90) days prior to the termination. As of January 31, Respawn has disabled all in-game purchases of real-money apps and removed the game from the web store. During this period, players can spend their existing Gold Syndicate and continue playing the full game.
Then finally at 16.00 PDT on May 1 2023 or the next day at 07.00 WIB, Respawn will stop operations in all regions, and the game will no longer be playable.
According to the FAQ provided, as per the EA user agreement, neither Respawn nor EA will provide refunds for real money purchases.
"For other refund requests, please contact the third-party platforms where you purchased game content, for example, the Apple App Store and Google Play Store," he explained.
However, the decision to stop Apex Legends Mobile is specific to that platform only. This means games on PC and Console will have no effect.
