PKB Cadre Checks Followers Not In Accordance With Ridwan Kamil's Acknowledgment Of Having 30 Million Social Media Followers For Golkar's Victory
JAKARTA - PKB cadre Umar Hasibuan criticized the statement by the Deputy Head of the Golkar DPP in the Voter Raising and Election Winning Ridwan Kamil (RK) who claimed that he would win his party with followers on social media.
Umar considered that the role of social media, including its instruments in approaching constituents for political campaigns, would not contribute to the acquisition of the number of votes during the 2024 election. According to him, real politics is different from social media which operates in cyberspace.
"Mr. RK, followers don't matter. Because social media is cyberspace. There are fake accounts, there are real ones. Politics is real," said Umar Hasibuan as quoted from his Twitter account @Umar_Syadat770, Friday, January 20.
Umar also wondered about RK, who admitted that he had 30 million followers on social media to carry out his duties at Golkar. In fact, he said, the number of RK's followers was not as he stated.
From the results of a VOI search on Friday, January 20 at 08.47 WIB, RK's Instagram followers totaled 19.8 million. Meanwhile, RK's followers on Twitter are only 5.4 million. When combined, RK's social media followers are only 25.2 million, not up to 30 million as the former Mayor of Bandung admitted.
"His IG is 19 million and his Twitter is 5 million. Then how come he can say that he has 30 million followers as the capital for him to join Golkar?" asked Umar.

Previously, Ridwan Kamil or RK stated that he would use social media to narrate the Golkar Party. According to him, as many as 30 million followers on Instagram can be capital to carry out the duties of the co-chair for winning the election given by the General Chair of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto.
"I have 30 million followers. That alone has become an asset," said Ridwan Kamil at the Golkar Party DPP Office, West Jakarta, Wednesday, January 18, evening.
RK explained that he would post about the Golkar Party with an intelligent and persuasive narrative. He is sure that there will be followers on his social media who are 'engaged' from his upload.
"I post once or twice a day about Golkar, it's something that's engaging, right? Because I definitely narrate it smarter and more persuasive," he said.
