Calling President Zelensky's Peace Plan Unreasonable, Russian Foreign Minister: No Serious Proposals Yet

JAKARTA - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Wednesday, Moscow has not seen any serious proposals for peace in Ukraine, considering Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's proposal to be unreasonable.

Foreign Minister Lavrov said Moscow was ready to discuss conflicts with Western countries and to respond to any serious proposals, but that any talks were necessary to address Russia's broader security concerns.

Speaking at a press conference in Moscow, Lavrov again called on NATO to remove "military infrastructure" from Ukraine and other countries close to Russia's borders.

"There is no talk of negotiations with President Zelensky," Lavrov said, describing the Ukrainian leader's 10-point plan launched last November as an "absolutely senseless initiative".

"Regarding the prospects for negotiations between Russia and the West on the Ukraine issue, we will be ready to respond to any serious proposal. (But) we have not seen any serious proposals. We will be ready to consider them and decide," said Foreign Minister Lavrov.

Lavrov added that Western governments' statements that they would not discuss anything about Ukraine without Kyiv's involvement were "nonsense", because the West actually made up its mind.
