List of Phones That Can No Longer Get WhatsApp Updates Starting Next Week
JAKARTA - WhatsApp will end support for smartphones with older Android operating systems (OS) starting next week. That is, users will not get app updates.
App support will end for Android smartphones not running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or iOS 12. Nearly 50 phones were registered, including the Apple iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c.
The other phones on the list are made by Samsung, Huawei, LG, Sony, Lenovo, and ZTE.
Meanwhile, Samsung includes those released in 2011, 2012 and 2013. These devices include the Galaxy S2, Galaxy S3 Mini, Galaxy Core, and Galaxy Ace 2.
So, WhatsApp will stop working on these phones after December 31, 2022. Currently, the WhatsApp FAQ still mentions that it supports Android phones running OS 4.1 and above.

First reported by GizChina, the list includes mostly entry-level and mid-range smartphones.
It should be noted, if you are still using one of the aforementioned list of devices, you may have to upgrade to a newer smartphone to continue using WhatsApp and receive updates.
Launching PhoneArena, Wednesday, December 28, this is the second time in the last three months that WhatsApp has removed support for most Android and iOS devices.
The last time this happened was last October, when WhatsApp revealed it would no longer support the iPhone SE, iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, as well as no fewer than 40 Android devices from Samsung, Huawei, LG, Sony, ZTE, HTC, Lenovo, and Alcatel.
