Indonesia Becomes Host of F1 Power Boat 2023, Menpora: Lake Toba Suddenly Becomes a Discussion

JAKARTA - The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali received the Chair of the super-fast boat racing event or F1H2O (F1 Powerboat) from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Friday 16 December 2022. As is known, Indonesia will host the 2023 F1 Power Boat in Lake Toba.

Zainudin received direct F1H2O chairmanship from the United Arab Emirates represented by the Chairman Of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority of Sharjah State Mr. Khalid Al-Midfa. Also present at the occasion was the Regent of Toba, Poltak Sitorus.

"FIH2O is the World Powerboat Championship organized by Union Internationale Motonautique and sponsored by H2O, so it is often referred to as F2H2O. This championship is the highest class in the Powerboat race which also bears the name F1 like car racing", said the Menpora on the Ministry's official website, Saturday, December 17th.

Lake Toba as the host of the 2023 F1 Power Boat has become an international conversation because it is covered by foreign media. The media started spreading the name "Toba Lake, Toba Lake".

"Toba, or Lake Toba, has suddenly become a topic of discussion, making news in many countries. Fans of the Formula 1 Power Boat race are certainly starting to get ready to seek information about Toba", said the Menpora.

"They will definitely be curious why Toba, what's wrong with Toba, what's good about Toba, how to get to Toba, how it was while living in Toba, the food, facilities, and so on", he continued.

This will encourage Indonesia, especially the central and regional governments, especially the people around Toba, to prepare themselves to meet the expectations of tourists who are also Formula 1 Power Boat spectators.

"Tourists will not only watch the match but will enjoy the tourist environment more", he said.

According to Menpora Amali, preparations will continue to be accelerated so that foreign and local spectators will feel comfortable visiting, or even plan to return to Lake Toba.

"The key to all of this is the readiness of the Toba people to become hosts who are friendly, open, and provide the best service for their guests", he concluded.
