Compared to Google and Microsoft, Amazon Still Leads the Global Cloud Market
JAKARTA - The latest data from Synergy Research Group reveals that the company's spending in the third quarter of 2022 on cloud infrastructure services exceeded USD 57 billion (IDR 889 trillion), up more than USD 11 billion (IDR 171 trillion) in the same period last year.
The provider of data analytics for networks and telecommunications also noted that, of the three tech giants such as Google, Amazon and Microsoft, Google cloud gained up to 11 percent.
Meanwhile, Amazon remained stable as the global cloud services market leader with 34 percent, followed by Microsoft with 21 percent growth, with revenues of nearly 12 billion US dollars (IDR 187 trillion).
Synergy Research Group said that when compared to last year, all three have increased their market share by at least one percentage point.
Amazon, Microsoft and Google combined had a 66 percent share of the cloud market in the quarter, up from 61 percent last year.
Overall, all other cloud providers have tripled their revenue since late 2017, although their collective market share has fallen from 50 percent to 34 percent as their growth rate remains well below the market leader.
