Convicts Arrested in Jakarta Prison Control Methamphetamine With Mobile Phones

JAKARTA – The Tanah Abang Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit explained how an inmate he arrested in one of the prisons in Jakarta, was able to carry out his illicit business even though he was behind bars.

The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tanah Abang Metro Police, AKP Fernando Adriansyah, said that the suspect with the initials RY (36) could control the sale of methamphetamine from inside the prison only by using his cellphone.

"RY communicates with CA (his nephew) via cellphone. Possibly", said the Head of Criminal Investigation at the Tanah Abang Metro Police AKP Fernando Adriansyah when confirmed by VOI, Friday, October 21.

However, they did not stop there. Development is still being carried out to dismantle the drug network to its roots.

"Temporary examination, drugs come from outside (Prison). RY only acts as a controller from inside the prison", he said briefly.

This revelation began to emerge from the arrest of CA, RY's nephew. CA admitted that the methamphetamine belonged to his uncle who was a prisoner in one of the prisons in Jakarta.

"From the testimony of the suspect CA, the evidence is methamphetamine belonging to the prison inmate. From our records (the Tanah Abang Police), the suspect CA has only been arrested once", he said.
