65 Percent Of Convicts Detained In Central Sulawesi Related To Drug Cases

CENTRAL SULAWESI - The Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) of Central Sulawesi Province (Sulteng) handles as many as 65 percent of drug cases in 12 prisons and detention centers.

"Overall, 65 percent of the cases handled by the Central Sulawesi Ministry of Law and Human Rights through prisons and detention centers are narcotics cases," said Head of the Central Sulawesi Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office, Budi Argap Situngkir, in Pau, Central Sulawesi, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, October 19.

He explained that the percentage of 65 percent was equivalent to 2,800 prisoners or more than half the number of prisoners processed by the Central Sulawesi Ministry of Law and Human Rights, which reached 3,821 people.

Meanwhile, the remaining 3,821 detainees are being processed for other crimes, including general crimes.

"The details of the total 3,821 cases, 727 inmates, while 3,094 prisoners," he added.

Budi said that in fostering inmates or inmates in prisons and detention centers in the Central Sulawesi region, prioritizing spiritual development so that they can repent and become better individuals after breathing free air later.

"In that case, what is clear is that we prioritize spiritual and religious development, such as learning the Koran and learning to pray and giving sermons for Muslims," ​​said Budi.

It also provides skills training for prisoners with the aim that when they are free they can use these skills.

"Skills development also exists by cooperating with various related parties in terms of machinery, hydroponic manufacturing, sewing, and several other skills," he said.
