COVID-19 Update as of October 17: 1,233 New Cases from Examination of 60,101 Cases

JAKARTA - The Task Force for Handling COVID-19 released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of today. A total of 60,101 specimens were examined with the result that there were 1,233 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 6,458,101 people and active cases have fallen by 390 to 16,823 cases", said data from the COVID-19 Task Force, Monday, October 17.

Today's recovered cases increased by 1,609 people, bringing the total to 6,282,951 recovered. Then, the number of positive confirmed cases who died increased by 14 cases and the total was 158,327 people.

The province with the newest cases is DKI Jakarta with 448 cases and a total of 1,435,735 cases. Followed by West Java with 185 new cases with a total of 1,184,318 cases. East Java has 126 new cases and a total of 608,417 cases. Central Java had 119 new cases and a total of 639,788 cases.

The province with the most recovered cases today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an additional 499 recovered cases. Followed by West Java with an increase of 298 recovered cases, Bante with an increase of 190 recovered cases, and Central Java with an additional 162 recovered cases.

In addition, the number of specimens that have been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigens reached 109,672,450.

"Positive results per number of people examined or the positivity rate of people this week is 6.14 percent", it wrote.

The number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases was recorded at 2,710 people. Currently, 34 provinces have had cases of COVID-19.

To date, 204,775,169 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 171,418,404 people have received the second dose of vaccination.

While the third dose of vaccination was 64,336,404 people and the fourth dose was 650,342 people. Meanwhile, the target for vaccination in Indonesia is 234,666,020 people.
