BYD ATTO 3 Receives Five Star Rating For Electric Car From NCAP

JAKARTA – Chinese automaker BYD on Wednesday, October 12 received their coveted five-star Euro NCAP safety rating for its ATTO 3 electric crossover SUV. in the European competitive car market.

Two other Chinese-made cars - the eCitroënC5 X, built by a joint venture between Stellantis and Dongfeng and Mobilize Limo, an electric sedan made by Renault in conjunction with Jiangling Motors, received four-star ratings.

Ratings from the European New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) are non-binding, as they do not certify vehicles for road use. But European consumers are paying attention to Euro NCAP safety tests and automakers are aggressively marketing good ratings.

Last month, its competitor from China, Great Wall Motor, also received five-star ratings for the WEY Coffee 01 hybrid SUV and the ORA Funky Cat electric sedan.

While BYD just this week launched the ATTO 3 in India, which is sold in China as Yuan Plus.

Last week, German car rental company Sixt said it had committed to buying around 100,000 electric vehicles from BYD China in the coming years.

Among other cars that received a five-star rating last Wednesday was the Mercedes-Benz EQE electric sedan.

The vehicle's driver assistance system - including one that moves the car to the slowest lane on the highway and stops it if the driver becomes unresponsive - makes it the car with the highest score so far for assisted driving function assistance, according to Euro NCAP.
