Apple Fails To Launch Pay Later Service This Year

JAKARTA - Apple seems to be delaying the launch of their Pay Later feature until next year, the company claims is facing technical challenges in its service.

As reported by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, it's likely that Apple Pay Later won't appear until the launch of iOS 16.4. Gurman said this was because Apple faced significant technical and engineering challenges in launching the service.

"Apple is not entirely sure when Apple Pay Later will be ready to launch. We probably won't see it until the release of iOS 16.4 in Spring 2023. (Because there are) significant technical and engineering challenges in launching the service, which caused delays," said Gurman.

Previously, Apple said Pay Later or the pay later feature would arrive alongside iOS 16 when it first announced the service at WWDC 2022 in June.

However, after iOS 16 came out, Apple Pay Later has yet to appear and a small leak on Apple's iOS 16 page says the service will come in a future update.

Citing The Verge, Monday, September 26, as Gurman said, Apple Pay Later is the only feature in iOS 16 that hasn't been released yet, and it's not clear when it will appear.

Apple Pay Later allows users to make payments via Apple Pay and then pay them back in four interest-free installments.

It is not clear what challenges the giants from Cupertino, United States (US) are facing. However, it is claimed after Apple Pay Later launches, it has the potential to reach more users than any other pay later service, as the feature is built right into iPhones.
