Dean Of Windsor Presides Private Funeral For Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles III And Royal Family Attend
JAKARTA - Dean of Windsor David Conner presided over Queen Elizabeth II's private funeral at the King George VI Memorial Chapel on Monday evening.
After previously the Queen's coffin was lowered into the Royal Vault in the funeral service in the Chapel of St. George and was attended by around 800 invited guests. The Queen's funeral is closed to the family, without media.
"A private funeral was held at the King George VI Memorial Chapel that evening, presided over by the Dean of Windsor," read the royal.uk website in its announcement.
"The Queen is buried with The Duke of Edinburgh, at The King George VI Memorial Chapel," the announcement continued.
King Charles III and other members of the Royal Family return to St. Chapel. George for private family services, as reported by the BBC.
They will watch the Queen be buried in the memorial chapel of King George VI, which is inside St George's Chapel, with her late husband, the Duke of Edinburgh.
Details of the service were not disclosed, with Buckingham Palace calling it a "very private family event".
The Queen is buried in St George's Chapel, on the grounds of Windsor Castle, a place she loved all her life. Princess Elizabeth and Margaret spent most of the war years at Windsor Castle. Later in life, the Queen often lived there with her children.
She also hosted foreign dignitaries, from Ronald Reagan to Mikhail Gorbachev at the castle. She is a frequent visitor to the Royal Windsor Horse Show.
The Queen eventually moved to Windsor Castle during the coronavirus pandemic, and broadcast the message "We'll see you again" from there.
It is known that the chapel was built by King Edward IV in 1475 at Windsor Castle, which had been the property of the monarchy for nearly 1,000 years.
