JAKARTA - Boris Johnson said Liz Truss would do everything she could to help people cope with skyrocketing energy prices, marking her support for the elected British Prime Minister, in his 'farewell' speech on Tuesday.
"I know Liz Truss and this loving Conservative government will do everything we can to get people through this crisis, this country will endure it, and we will win", Johnson said at the door of 10 Downing Street, his office and official residence, reported Reuters on September 6.
After delivering her farewell speech, she left London for a trip to Scotland to submit her resignation to Queen Elizabeth II.
Next, Truss will then be appointed prime minister and begin to form a new government.
Truss, 47, was tasked with directing Britain through a lengthy recession, as well as an energy crisis that threatens millions of households and businesses.
The plan is to improve the economy through tax cuts, while providing tens of billions of pounds to limit energy costs having rocked financial markets, encouraging investors to throw away government pounds and bonds.
"What I said to my Conservative colleagues, it's time for politics to end, friend", Johnson said in his speech.
