Political Parties Continue To Be Pragmatic, Observers Of The 2024 Election Coalition Values Are Still Liquid

JAKARTA - A number of elite political parties (political parties) are still exploring cooperation with each other even though a coalition to face the 2024 General Election (Pemilu) has been formed.

According to the Executive Director of Algorithm, Aditya Perdana, the coalition of political parties in Indonesia is very fluid. Especially for political parties who think pragmatically regarding the 2024 Election.

"Political parties in Indonesia are pragmatic, yes, because they see that the ties are just made liquid, making it easier to interact with each other," said Aditya, Wednesday, August 24.

Therefore, top political party officials still visit each other even though the agreement to form a coalition has been pledged. Not yet daring to declare the name of a presidential candidate (candidate) is another factor that the agreement formed is still fluid.

This can be seen from the dynamics of the coalitions that have been built to date, such as the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB), the Gerindra-PKB Coalition, and most recently the NasDem-PKS-Democratic axis.

"In simple language, they still glance at each other, they are still in the early stages, there is nothing that binds each other," explained Aditya.

Even though they have joined a coalition or moved closer to a certain axis, he said, political parties are still exploring opportunities so there could be changes in the future.

While the elites of political parties are glancing at them, he said, survey institutions have paired the names of top political party officials as experiments. The experiment is in the context of gathering support. "Or ensuring that A matches B or B matches others. Maybe it can happen or not," said Aditya.

However, basically, political parties do not have one ideology and similarity to make it easier for them to stick together. So, he said, it is still very fluid.

The fluidity of the coalition and the pragmatism of political parties made Aditya suspect that political parties and their coalitions would still refrain from announcing their presidential and vice presidential candidates. "Only at the beginning of next year, will it be clear where their direction and choice will be," he said.

Previously, in the development of the coalition towards the 2024 General Election, a number of parties that are members of the KIB responded to the Democratic Party which revealed that a large coalition was needed to win the five-year democratic party and run the government.

PAN, as a member of KIB apart from Golkar and PPP, agrees with the discourse of the grand coalition. PAN also invited Democrats to join KIB.

On the other hand, PKB and Gerindra have declared to form a coalition. Both of them are still approaching other political parties, such as the PDI-P (PDIP).

Meanwhile, PDIP has just had a meeting with NasDem. The party created by Surya Paloh has already strengthened its exploration with the axis of Democrats and PKS.
