Indonesian Weightlifting Coach Satisfied With Results At ISG 2021, Next Target For 2022 World Championships And 2024 Olympics
JAKARTA - The Indonesian weightlifting team won proud results at the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, Turkey. Lowering the coating squad does not make the Red and White troops sluggish.
The Indonesian weightlifting team successfully won 12 gold, seven silver and 10 bronze medals.
Indonesian weightlifting coach, Dirdja Wihardja admitted that he was proud and satisfied with the achievements of his students. Moreover, they lowered a number of new faces in this event.
"Personally, as a coach, I am satisfied with the results at ISG. Not only in terms of medals, but also the number of their generation has increased," Dirdja said as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, August 16.
Dirdja said the results of the ISG will be a reference in determining the strategy towards qualifying for the 2024 Olympics. The first test will be the 2022 World Championships which will be held in Bogota, Colombia, December 5-15.
"They showed progress from the results of the SEA Games, so this ISG is indeed the perfect means to warm up ahead of the race for tickets for the 2024 Paris Olympics," he said.
The strategy for qualifying for the 2024 Olympics has also been prepared. The Executive Board of the All Indonesia Weightlifting Association (PB PABSI) will send two lifters in several classes.
This is done in order to increase the chances of securing more tickets to the Olympics. "For example, for the 61kg class, we have senior lifter Eko Yuli Irawan and there is also Ricko Saputra who won three gold medals at the ISG," said Dirdja.
"So also in the 73kg class, we have two lifters. What is clear, Konya's results will be our evaluation material," he continued.
