Mandalika Circuit No Longer Holds MotoGP Pre-Season Tests, Slots Are Given To Portimao Circuit

JAKARTA - It is certain that the Lombok Mandalika Circuit will not hold the 2023 MotoGP pre-season test session. The slot that was given by Dorna was transferred to the Portimao Circuit, Portugal.

In the 2022 MotoGP, the Mandalika Circuit has the opportunity to hold a pre-season test in February 2022. That is one month before Indonesia will host the MotoGP race.

In an official release issued by MotoGP, the Algarve Circuit, Portimao will hold a pre-season test on March 11-12. Besides Portimao, the Sepang Circuit will also be the venue for the 2023 MotoGP pre-season test.

Sepang will also be the arena for the Shakedown Test, specifically for MotoGP factory test riders and rookie riders on February 5-7.

Pre-season tests for the Moto2 and Moto3 classes will also take place in Portimao.

The selection of Portimao is in line with the 2023 season calendar, which opens at the Portuguese circuit on March 24-26. They replace Qatar which is still renovating the Losail Circuit.

The following is the provisional schedule for the 2023 MotoGP pre-season test:

Shakedown: February 5-7

Sepang Test: 10-12 February

Portimao Test: March 11-12

Moto2 and Moto3 tests in Portimao: 17-19 March
