BPOM Supply Thematic Herbs And Cosmetics Towards Tourist Areas
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Food and Drug Administration (BPOM) supports the development of the Health Tourism program or Wellness Tourism by supplying thematic herbal and cosmetic products in tourist areas.
"BPOM is preparing to launch a thematic herbal and cosmetic tourist destination in Yogyakarta, which we will of course expand to other areas," said Head of BPOM RI Penny K Lukito at the International Wellness Tourism Conference & Festival event as reported by ANTARA, Friday, August 5.
Penny said the activity was in order to support the Health Tourism program of the Ministry of Tourism and the Creative Economy in three regions, namely Solo, Yogyakarta, and Bali.
Penny said BPOM provides assistance, facilities, to the development of herbal products, herbal medicines to cosmetics with global competitiveness through pentahelix collaboration with entrepreneurs and the community.
"Various efforts have been made by the relevant ministries and institutions to encourage the use of phytopharmaceuticals in formal health services and more and more traditional medicinal products are used as wellness products of high quality and competitive," he said.
Responding to these needs and opportunities, BPOM proactively assists in increasing the capacity of MSME business actors to improve the quality of international standard product needs.
Efforts that have been made include providing ease of licensing, through simplification of requirements, accelerated registration procedures, product, and certification of good medicine manufacturing methods for traditional medicines, cosmetics, and other health products.
"We also provide assistance for carrying herbal medicine business actors in terms of hygiene and sanitation, as well as producing quality herbal medicine and encouraging the people's economy," he said.

According to Penny, BPOM has also mobilized various programs for adoptive parents from large industries to increase the capacity of MSMEs in traditional medicine and carrying herbal medicine businesses.
"BPOM drives the creative economy, the community with cross-sector support, both the central, regional, and private governments," he said.
