BRIN Values 2024 Election Constituents Not Easily Tempted By New Parties
JAKARTA - National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) researcher Siti Zuhro assesses that the Indonesian people or their constituents are not easily tempted by new parties in the 2024 Simultaneous General Elections (Pemilu).
People actually expect political parties that really fight for the interests and aspirations of the people.
"Indonesians don't want many parties; they want quality parties that can accommodate people's expectations," said Siti in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, July 12 night.
The phenomenon of new parties that appear every time before the election, he continued, does not necessarily make people interested in voting.
"(It) is evidenced by the fact that people do not immediately move, Golkar already has traditional voters, PDI-P has a niche for support. This market share does not have a new party," he explained.
He gave an example, the PDI-P's "bull cage" is in Central Java and Bali, while the mass base of the Golkar Party is in eastern Indonesia and Sumatra. According to the senior researcher, ideally, a new party should not suddenly join the election after making a declaration.
Political parties, as a forum for selecting national and regional leadership, must simply carry out political campaigns, such as political socialization about parties, introducing the party's vision and mission, as well as focused party programs.

This should be done continuously before the election as a form of community involvement in the political process.
"It will be carried out in the long term, culminating in the general election, regional election; that's why an election political campaign is being carried out," he added.
He said that new political parties cannot show definite voters because they still rely on floating voters or swing voters.
Therefore, new parties need to show an approach that is not carried out just before the election, because floating voters can still be approached through face-to-face meetings.
"The party that the people desire the most is the one that is able to make an analogy with the people's needs," he concluded.
