As The First Asian Leader, President Jokowi Will Meet President Zelensky And Putin After Attending The G7 Summit In Germany
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is planned to visit two conflicting countries, Ukraine and Russia, and meet with the leaders of the two countries, in the midst of a war that has been going on since February 24.
This was stated by Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi in her statement to reporters, related to President Jokowi's planned working visit to Europe.
"President Jokowi will visit Kyiv, Ukraine and Moscow, Russia, after visiting Germany," said Foreign Minister Retno in a virtual press statement Wednesday, June 22.
"During the visit, President Jokowi will certainly meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin," she continued.
"Although the situation is difficult and the problems are complex, as President of the G20 and a member of the Champion Group of the Global Crisis Response Group formed by the Secretary-General of the United Nations, President Jokowi chose to try to contribute, he did not choose to remain silent," she added.
"President Jokowi will be the first Asian leader to meet with the leaders of the two countries since the conflict," said Foreign Minister Retno.

Prior to the two countries, President Jokowi is scheduled to attend the Group 7 (G7) meeting of countries which will be held in Germany on June 26-28. Indonesia was present as one of the invitees to the meeting.
