Jokowi And KPU Discuss The 2024 Election At The Palace, Dispute The Postponed Election Dispute.

JAKARTA - Paramadina University political communication observer Hendri Satrio appreciates President Jokowi and the General Elections Commission (KPU) who remain committed to holding elections in 2024.

“High appreciation for the President and KPU. Good, steady, and commitment to holding elections must be implemented and upheld", said Hendri, Tuesday, May 31.

The founder of the KedaiKOPI survey institute also hopes that the five-year democratic party will run without any problems.

"Hopefully it will run smoothly without any obstacles from certain gossip", said the man who is familiarly called Hensat.

Meanwhile, Executive Director of Indonesian Presidential Studies (IPS), Nyarwi Ahmad, assessed that the meeting was a form of Jokowi's commitment to maintaining democracy. The President, according to him, expressed his full support for all stages and implementation of the 2024 General Election.

"I think it shows his commitment to the preservation of our democratic system properly through the five-year election mechanism", Nyarwi said in Jakarta, Tuesday, May 31.

The meeting, he continued, also became a rebuttal related to election issues that became polemic some time ago. Such as postponement of elections, additions, and extensions of the presidential term.

"The assumption that people say the president agrees with postponing the election, I think it's 100 percent refuted", said Nyarwi.

In addition, Nyarwi emphasized that the KPU has an important task to improve the quality of voter participation, not just a matter of good election administration. He hopes that the KPU will be able to educate the public so that they can become more active and intelligent voters.

"The challenge for the KPU is not only to organize elections well but how to do the elections by involving the public intelligently", he said.

Previously, the House of Representatives (DPR) had stated its commitment to hold Simultaneous Elections to be held on February 14, 2024, and the Pilkada on November 27. Even the Chairperson of the DPR RI, Puan Maharani, emphasized that the commitment to holding elections had been agreed upon by the government and the KPU and Bawaslu.

Puan also asked that the discussion regarding the polemic of postponing the 2024 General Election be ended immediately. He invited all parties to participate in guarding and supporting the stages of the 2024 General Election.

"I think the polemic regarding whether (the 2024 election) is postponed or not, and so on, we'll just end it, so we don't have to talk about it anymore", said Puan.
