2023 U-17 Asian Cup Draw: Indonesia In Group With Malaysia
JAKARTA - The journey of the Indonesian national team in the 2023 U-17 Asian Cup Qualification will be tough. The draw results put the Garuda squad in a difficult group.
Based on the results of the draw held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Tuesday, May 24 yesterday, it was confirmed that Indonesia would fill Group B accordingly. In the same group there is the Malaysian national team.
Apart from these two countries, there are also the United Arab Emirates, Palestine and Guam in the same group. Malaysia and the UAE are certain to be opponents who will make it difficult for the Indonesian national team to step up.
So far, Malaysia has participated in the event five times. As for the UAE seven times, including when they came out as runners-up in 1990.
Indonesia is also a team that regularly participates in the competition. It has been recorded that Red and White has passed the finals six times (1986, 1988, 1990, 2008, 2010 and 2018) with the best achievement in the semifinals in third participation.
A total of 44 countries divided into 10 groups will take part in the qualifying round which will take place from 1-9 October.
Indonesia itself will act as the host of Group B qualifiers. However, the venues that will be used for the match have yet to be announced.
