JAKARTA - The Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) of the West Java Police has arrested two illegal transfers of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) gas from a 3 kilogram subsidized gas cylinder to a 12-kilogram non-subsidized gas cylinder.

West Java Police Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Ibrahim Tompo, said the two suspects arrested had the initials MS and AA. They were arrested while acting as a warehouse in Cileungsi, Bogor Regency, West Java.

"So this is the development of the investigation. On April 19, 2022, it was found that there were people who transferred the contents of the gas from a 3-kilogram cylinder to a 12-kilogram tube", said Commissioner Ibrahim at the West Java Regional Police, Bandung City, West Java, Thursday, April 21.

In this case, according to him, there is one other suspect, namely GS, who is still on the wanted list (DPO). According to him, GS is suspected of being the owner of the illegal business.

Meanwhile, West Java Police Deputy Director of Special Criminal Investigation, AKBP Roland Ronaldy, said the perpetrator was suspected of buying 3 kilograms of subsidized gas from an official base around the scene.

Then the perpetrators mixed the gas from the 3-kilogram tube by using a modified iron pipe and using ice cubes. "So for one 12-kilogram tube, it was transferred from four 3-kilogram tubes", Roland said as quoted by Antara.

The perpetrators, he said, bought 3 kilograms of gas cylinders for IDR 17,500 and then sold the 12 kilograms of gas for IDR 180,000-IDR 185,000 per cylinder.

As a result of their actions, they were charged with Article 55 Paragraph 5 concerning Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation for Amendments to Indonesian Law Number 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Gas with a penalty of six years in prison and a fine IDR 60 billion.
