Being Accused Of Sexual Violence, Oscar De La Hoya: My Legal Team Will Prove I Am Innocent

JAKARTA - Legendary boxer Oscar de la Hoya has been plunged into a huge scandal which will be very difficult to avoid due to the nature of the accusations against him.

Rewind to 2020, De la Hoya visits the distillery at Casa Mexico Enterprises of which he is a business partner.

On two separate occasions, a woman claimed De la Hoya sexually harassed her. The first time was in March 2020, when The Golden Boy - as he was still actively boxing - initially tried to have sex with the woman at night, but the woman refused.

It was not clear whether De la Hoya was drunk or not, but the woman was assigned to wake the former boxer the next day. That's when things took a turn for the worst.

The victim stated in her allegation that De la Hoya forced her into bed and sexually assaulted her.

Currently, the victim is a former employee of Casa Mexico Enterprises. While he was still working there, he had warned founder Don Buccio but the boss ignored his accusations.

On De la Hoya's next visit, he forced a sexual object into the woman against his will. That's what the victim claims, but De la Hoya has defended himself against the accusations.

Given that these allegations take place in Mexico, the country's legal system does a poor job of raping or sexually assaulting people who aren't even famous. Imagine what might have happened to Oscar de la Hoya.

So, how did Oscar de la Hoya respond?

The boxing legend isn't hiding from anyone, claiming that the alleged victim was just a woman embittered by being fired from her job.

Speaking to TMZ, this is what De la Hoya had to say about the allegations against him: "Unfortunately, with a twenty-four hour news cycle, we find ourselves today, more often than not, as the recipients of vengeful and unfair accusations that are interpreted and propagated as truth. -- without any evidence to support the false claim. I am confident that my legal team will resolve this matter and prove my innocence.
