KKP-Indonesian Navy Strengthen Synergy To Maintain Marine Ecosystem Sustainability
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) and the Indonesian Navy (AL) have agreed to strengthen synergies to preserve the marine ecosystem. This was conveyed by the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia, Sakti Wahyu Trenggono.
"With this slick collaboration, I am optimistic that the sustainability of marine ecosystems can be maintained and the welfare of the community will also increase," said the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries in a written statement received in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, April 12.
He conveyed this when receiving a working visit from the Commander of the Indonesian Navy's Hydro-Oceanography Center (Danpushidrosal) Vice Admiral National Armed Forces (TNI), Nurhidayat, at the KKP Office, Central Jakarta, Monday, April 11.
This working visit (Kunker) of Danpushidrosal aims to increase cooperation between the two institutions that have been well established so far in order to preserve the marine ecosystem.
Furthermore, the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries also conveyed that the cooperation between the KKP and the Indonesian Navy, in this case, the Pushidrosal, includes the regulation and installation of submarine cables and pipelines in accordance with the corridor, as stipulated in the Decree of the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (Kepmen KP) No. 14 of 2021 concerning Submarine Pipelines and/or Cables.

In addition, the collaboration also includes marine data so that the development of coastal areas becomes more organized.
On the same occasion, Danpushidrosal conveyed in general about the main tasks and functions of Pushidrosal which is a national hydrographic institution under the Indonesian Navy organization.
One of the functions related to marine and fisheries is a public service function, where Pushidrosal as the official provider of Indonesian Marine Maps and Nautical Publications to support the preservation of the marine environment.
"Pushidrosal as a national team in the arrangement of pipelines and submarine cables, is ready to support the Ministerial Decree No. KP. 14/2021 concerning Underwater Pipelines and/or Cables and is ready to assist KKP in the conservation zone area by including it on the Indonesian marine map, and support sharing portals with KKP," said Nurhidayat.
