The Decision To Depart For The SEA Games Is Still A Polemic, The Head Of The PPON Review Team Of The Ministry of Youth and Sports Gives An Explanation Again
JAKARTA - The determination of the departure of sports (sports) and athletes for the 2021 Hanoi SEA Games still leaves a polemic. There are still athletes who question the decision taken by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, through the National Sports Achievement Improvement (PPON) review team.
As is known, there were 14 sports that were ultimately not dispatched to Hanoi. The sports are indoor handball, beach handball, dance, petanque, kurash, futsal, billiards, table tennis, muaythai, xiangqi, diving, rhythmic gymnastics, aerobics, bodybuilding and women's soccer.
The head of the Kemenpora PPON review team, Prof. Dr. Moch. Asmawi again explained why only 31 sports were finally dispatched to the 2021 SEA Games. Everything was made based on the results of a review.
"Not only do we interview sports branches, but we also have data and have a track record," said Asmawi, as quoted from the official website of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Friday, April 8.
The data, continued Asmawi, was taken from the most recent multi-events. "If not, we will also see his track record in official championships," he added.
According to him, the decision not to dispatch the 14 sports was unanimous. The reason is, that the results of the review are considered to have no potential for achievements or medals.
"We did not leave because we do not have a track record of achievement and have no chance of winning a medal at the upcoming 2021 SEA Games. That is a message from the government that is non-negotiable, why because the upstream is the Olympics," he said.
