JAKARTA - The Ministry of Social Affairs will facilitate Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) at the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI), Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia who intends to return to their country.
This was conveyed by the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, when meeting about 20 PMI people, and invited them to express their wishes and the problems they face.
"For those who want to return to their country, the Ministry of Social Affairs is ready to facilitate the repatriation of PMIs from Saudi Arabia to Indonesia, except for PMIs who are still in trouble with the law", said Social Minister Risma as quoted by Antara, Jakarta, Wednesday, March 30.
Data from the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh, there are 177 PMI who are currently being accommodated at the Indonesian Embassy's Ruhama shelter in Riyadh with various types of problems. There are those whose salaries are not paid, victims of harassment, victims of violence, and so on.
The problems faced by PMI are complex and not light. However, a challenge that is no less severe in the presence of PMIs abroad who have to live separately from their loved ones in the country.
Social Minister Risma then gave several directions and policies, including helping the problems they were facing, facilitating their return home to providing basic services.
He also expressed his appreciation because PMI is struggling to make a living abroad, at the same time they are facing difficult situations.
"I understand that the mothers here work to provide for their families, and it is not easy because it is in someone else's country, while the family is in the country. Keep your spirits up, because you are heroes of foreign exchange. In the midst of various challenges, rest assured that Allah will provide the best way", said Social Minister Risma on the occasion.
At the direction of Social Minister Risma, they will be picked up and assisted by the Ministry of Social Affairs team. They will also get temporary basic services at Sentra Mulya Jaya, owned by the Ministry of Social Affairs.
For PMIs with problems, the Ministry of Social Affairs will, among other things, help, such as paying fines for every PMI who does not have Iqomah (temporary residence identity). Furthermore, when their legal problems have been resolved, their return to the country will be facilitated.
