Free Travel Quarantine From Overseas Officially Applies, Here Are The Complete Rules

JAKARTA - The government has officially issued quarantine-free rules for foreign travelers (PPLN) who enter Indonesia. This is stated in the SE Task Force for Handling COVID-19 Number 15 of 2022 concerning Health Protocols for Overseas Travel during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

In the rules that have been in effect since March 23, 2022, PPLNs, both Indonesian citizens and foreigners, can enter Indonesia without quarantine with certain conditions.

Upon entering Indonesia, PPLN must have downloaded the PeduliLindung application and filled out the Indonesian e-HAC, showing negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test results in the country of origin of which samples were taken within 2x24 hours before departure.

Then, upon arrival, PPLN is required to undergo a PCR re-examination. PPLN must wait for the results of the PCR examination in hotel rooms or lodging accommodations, and where they live. They are not allowed to leave the room until a negative COVID-19 test result comes out.

If the result of the PCR test is negative, the PPLN may continue the journey as long as it is free from quarantine as long as the second dose has been vaccinated.

However, if they have just received the first dose of vaccine or have not been vaccinated at all, they must undergo quarantine for 5x24 hours. Then, they are also required to do a second PCR on the fourth day of quarantine before continuing their journey.

For PPLN under 18 years of age or in need of special protection, quarantine arrangements follow the provisions of the travel companion.

For PPLNs with special health conditions that prevent them from being vaccinated, they are allowed to continue their journey by attaching a doctor's certificate from the government hospital of the country of departure.

Meanwhile, if the PCR test results are positive for COVID-19, the PPLN is required to undergo isolation in a centralized isolation facility/isolation hotel/self-isolation if there are no symptoms and mild symptoms, or undergo treatment at a COVID-19 referral hospital if experiencing moderate symptoms, severe symptoms, or uncontrolled comorbidities.

Furthermore, the government also provides quarantine dispensation for PPLN specifically for Indonesian citizens who have not received the second dose of vaccination provided they have urgent circumstances. This can be like having a life-threatening health condition, requiring special attention, or mourning the death of a nuclear family member.

If PPLN wants to do a comparison PCR test when they enter Indonesia, the government will allow it at their own expense.
