Indonesian Doctors Association of Sukoharjo Asks Not To Connect The Doctor's Profession With Sunardi Who Was Shot By Densus 88
SUKOHARHO - Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) of Sukoharjo Branch has raised its voice regarding one of its members, Sunardi, who was affiliated with a terrorist network and eventually died at the hands of members of Densus 88. IDI Sukoharjo asked not to associate Sunardi with the medical profession.
The chairman of IDI Sukoharjo, Dr. Arif Budi Satria, in his written statement said that Sunardi is a person with a high social spirit in the medical profession. He said again, it was acknowledged that Sunardi also went to the field when there was a natural disaster.
"We express our deep condolences to the family of the late Dr. Sunardi. In the medical profession, the deceased was known as a person with a high social spirit and was always active in dealing with patients when there was a natural disaster", said Arif in his official statement, Monday, March 14.
"In addition, he is also diligent in taking care of the Registration Certificate (STR) and Practice Permit (SIP)", continued Dr. Arif Budi Satria.
Doctor Arif then explained the doctor's oath that every member must obey. He said, in the doctor's oath there was also a point where doctors were asked to make serious efforts so as not to be influenced by considerations of religion, nationality, ethnicity, gender, politics, social position, and type of disease in carrying out their obligations to patients.

"The relationship between IDI and the medical profession with terrorism allegations is contradictory. Considering that so far IDI and doctors have focused on humanity, while the current one is related to terrorism", Arif explained.
“To avoid distortion, we ask the public not to link the terrorism case suspected of Sunardi to his profession as a doctor. There needs to be a spelling correction, not the late Dr. Sunardi, but Mr. Sunardi, maybe that could be a form of communication. Because as that other professions can experience the same thing. IDI Sukoharjo continues to carry out supervision and guidance so as not to get involved in activities that endanger other people", he explained.
IDI Sukoharjo also held a meeting with the Central Java Police and the Sukoharjo Police. They agreed that the Detachment 88 chase incident with Sunardi had nothing to do with the profession as a doctor.
