PSSI Cancels National Team Trial On FIFA Matchday At Shin Tae-yong's Request
JAKARTA - Indonesian Football Association (PSSII has confirmed that it has canceled the schedule for the Indonesian national team trial on the FIFA Matchday agenda this month. This was revealed by PSSI at the request of head coach Shin Tae-yong.
PSSI Chairman, Mochamad Iriawan, said Shin Tae-yong had sent a letter to him a few weeks ago to request that the trial be abolished. Shin Tae-yong reasoned that the trial of the Indonesian national team in March 2022 was unlikely given the schedule clashed with the U-19 national team's training camp in South Korea.
"According to Shin Tae-yong, the trial on FIFA Matchday in March 2022 was not effective and efficient", said Iriawan, quoted from the official PSSI website.
"This is because he also led the U-19 national team in preparation for the 2023 U-20 World Cup in a training camp in South Korea", he explained.
Furthermore, Iriawan revealed that actually, PSSI had prepared opponents for the Indonesian national team trial at FIFA Matchday on March 21-29. But then he understood the wishes of Shin Tae-yong, who understood the team's situation better.
"For this reason, PSSI understands Shin Tae-yong's request and supports his program for the achievement of the Indonesian national team", added the Chairman.
