Police Chief Calls Bekasi Street Race Postponed To An Unspecified Time Limit
BEKASI – The recent spike in COVID-19 cases has postponed the Street Race event at Central Park Meikarta Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, West Java. The Bekasi Metro Police Chief, Commissioner Gidion Arif Setyawan, said that the Street Race event, which was planned to be held at the end of February, had to be postponed indefinitely.
"Like what Mr. Dirlantas PMJ (Grand Commissioner Sambodo) said that the official street race is still waiting for the right time. I can't say for sure how long it will be postponed," said Setyawan, in Cikarang, Monday, February 7.

He said the spike in COVID-19 cases was a major factor in the postponement of the event, which was intended to reduce illegal racing on the streets.
They are still coordinating to finalize the concept of the Street Race event with the community of illegal racing activists while waiting for the development of the spike in cases.
"We are still in communication while waiting for the decision from the Traffic Corps of Metro Jaya Police as the initiator of the official street race event," he said.
