Empoli Vs Roma 2-4: Giallorossi Back In Europe

JAKARTA - AS Roma returned to the European zone in the Italian League standings after overcoming host Empoli with a score of 4-2 in the 23rd match at the Carlo Castellani Stadium, Sunday local time.

As reported by Antara, Monday, Tammy Abraham scored Roma's opening double before being followed by Sergio Oliveira and Nicolo Zaniolo, before the hosts replied through Andrea Pinamonti and Nedim Bajrami.

Roma's second successive win took them up to sixth place in the standings with 38 points, while Empoli, who are winless in the last six games, are stuck in 12th place with 29 points.

After several chances for Roma to open the scoring could be countered by the Empoli defence, Abraham gave the visitors the lead with a right-footed shot to finish Oliveira's pass in the 24th minute.

Abraham then scored his second goal in the 33rd minute to double Roma's lead by tugging at Gianluca Mancini's header in a corner.

A minute later it was Oliveira's turn to score, before Zaniolo's left-footed flick made Roma comfortably lead 4-0 until halftime.

Despite trailing 0-4, Empoli's players did not give up and minimized the margin with Pinamonti's fine finish to meet Filippo Bandinelli's cross in the 55th minute.

Then in the 72nd minute, Empoli again cut the gap to 2-4 thanks to Bajrami's shot outside the penalty box which was enough to outwit goalkeeper Rui Patricio.

Empoli's momentum continued, unfortunately, their next six attempted shots did not result in a goal so the 4-2 score for Roma lasted until the final whistle sounded.

The Italian league will enter an international break over the next week before Empoli travels to Renato Dall'Ara to face Bologna and Roma host Genoa at the Olimpico in the first weekend of February.
