Central Jakarta SDA Calls Floods In A Number Of Roads From Overflowing Waterways

JAKARTA - Traffic flow along Gunung Sahari Street, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta experienced a density due to flooding that inundated the area.

Density occurs in two lanes from the direction of Pasar Senen to Ancol and vice versa. A puddle of water occurred near the TransJakarta bus stop Budi Utomo with a water level of 40 centimeters.

Several vehicles were seen breaking down because their engine was caught in water when they were desperate to hit a puddle. As of Tuesday afternoon, puddles of water were still flooding Gunung Sahari Street, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta.

Head of the Maintenance Section of the Central Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-dept. Achmad Daeroby said the inundation that occurred at several points in Central Jakarta was due to the very high volume of rainwater. As a result, there is an overflow of water from the channel to create a puddle.

"It's raining very hard, as a result, the channel doesn't accommodate it," he said when confirmed by reporters, Tuesday, January 18.

Based on the data collected, inundation occurred in the area of Medan Merdeka Timur Street with a water level of 30 centimeters, Bungur Raya Street with a height of 40 centimeters, and Suprapto Street to Ahmad Yani Street with a water depth of 30 centimeters.

"But this is rapidly receding inundation. Currently, we are still collecting data on how many (all) locations the inundation occurred in Central Jakarta," he said.
