Sergio Ramos Was Not Selected For The PSG Vs Lyon Match, This Is What Pochettino Said
JAKARTA - Sergio Ramos was not played when Paris Saint-Germain hosted Olympique Lyon in 2021/2022 French League continued. The situation has become a hot topic of discussion, but Mauricio Pochettino has his reasons.
In the match which took place at the Parc des Prince Stadium on Tuesday, January 11 in the morning of Indonesian Western Time (WIB), PSG could only draw 1-1 with Lyon. PSG even fell behind when the game had only been running for seven minutes.
At that time the goal of Les Parisiens was broken by Lucas Paqueta. Luckily, Thilo Kehrer who was chosen to come off the bench managed to register his name on the scoreboard in the 76th minute.
After the match, Pochettino explained why he preferred to include other players over Ramos. According to the coach, his choice has never been a problem for either anyone or Ramos himself.
"It was my choice not to let him (Sergio Ramos) play today," explained Pochettino, quoted by Tuttomercatoweb.
"(Sergio) Ramos on the bench? This competition is good for everyone, he is doing well and I hope he can play in the next game."

Despite Pochettino's decision not to field Ramos in this match, the defender himself has only played three times for Les Parisiens in the 2021/2022 season since officially joining. The former Real Madrid player made his debut in November 2021 after suffering from a long injury.
Unfortunately, Ramos was injured again after helping his team beat Saint-Etienne 3-1. Then, he returned to fitness at the end of December 2021 until now, but Pochettino does not believe 100 percent in Ramos to play full time.
Of course, many PSG fans hope that Pochettino can often play Ramos. Because the defender from Spain is known to have good ability in terms of defending and this will benefit the team.
