8 Thousand Combined Personnel Secures Christmas And New Year In Jakarta
JAKARTA - A total of 8,000 joint personnel have been prepared for the 2021 Lilin Jaya Operation on December 24, 2021 - January 2, 2022. This operation ensures the security of the 2021 Christmas and 2022 New Year celebrations.
"For this year's Christmas and New Year security activities, the Metro Jaya Police and Kodam Jaya and the Pemda DKI Jakarta total 8,000 personnel," said Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police Grand Commissioner Endra Zulpan, Tuesday, December 21.
These thousands of personnel will later be deployed in various locations that become the object of crowds during the Christmas and New Year celebrations, including churches, shopping centers, recreation areas, and other crowded points.
The joint personnel deployed in the 2021 Lilin Jaya Operation are also assigned to oversee the implementation of restrictions on the operating hours of several types of businesses such as entertainment venues, malls, and so on, which are limited to operating hours until 22.00 western Indonesia time during the 2021 Lilin Jaya Operation.
"So after 22.00 western Indonesia time will be carried out controlling or cleaning by joint officers from Metro Jaya Police, assisted by Kodam Jaya and Pemprov DKI, namely Satpol PP. So hopefully at 00.00, there will be no more crowds," he said.

Meanwhile, the National Police deployed 44,582 personnel to provide security at a number of churches in the context of the 2021 Christmas and 2022 New Year Security Candles Operation.
"There are 44,582 police officers who will be deployed to provide security in churches," said Assistant Operations (Asop) of the National Police Chief Inspector General Imam Sugianto, in Jakarta.
The prepared Police personnel were distributed to a number of churches in the country that held Christmas Mass and New Year's Mass.
"A total of 30,761 personnel are stationed in the Protestant Church, 13,821 personnel in the Catholic Church," he said.
In addition to deploying personnel, the National Police will also sterilize churches before and after Christmas and New Year's Mass.
In addition to securing places of worship for Christians, the National Police also deployed personnel to secure crowd centers during the Christmas and New Year 2022 holidays, such as shopping centers and tourist sites.
"There are 3,956 personnel guarding shopping centers, and 6,397 personnel at tourist attractions," said Imam.
