Heavy Rain Causes The 4th Floor Of The Yogyakarta Terban Market Stall To Collapse
YOGYAKARTA - Heavy rains that flushed the city of Yogyakarta on Monday, December 20, caused the fourth floor of the stalls at Pasar Terban Yogyakarta to collapse. The kiosk cannot be used for selling temporarily.
“We have localized the locations that were damaged. Traders and personnel from the service have also been working to clean the location from today until tomorrow", said the Head of the Yogyakarta City Trade Office, Yunianto Dwi Sutono, as quoted by Antara, Tuesday on December 21.
Traders whose stalls were damaged temporarily were placed in a safer location, in the eastern part of the market, so that they could still carry out their daily activities at Terban Market.
"We provide supporting facilities such as water disposal sites so that traders can still sell comfortably and the selling location remains clean", he said.
According to Yunianto, the location that is currently sinking has been detected for a long time and has been proposed for repairs, but revitalization has not been carried out due to regional financial conditions.
The proposal for the revitalization of the Yogyakarta Terban Market has also been submitted to the central government for funding assistance from the center but has yet to receive any results.
“The market condition is in dire need of revitalization. The market building needs repairs because it's a condition can be said to be less than proper", he said.

As for the repair of the subsidence location, it is estimated that it can only be done next year.
"We have reported the damage to the regional head. To repair the subsidence location, it must be coordinated with the Public Works, Housing and Settlement Areas Office as the authorized agency", he said.
He hopes that repairs to the subsidence location can be carried out immediately because traders still need a location to carry out activities in traditional markets. "If possible, temporary treatment can be carried out. We are coordinating it", he said.
