After Losing Rp1-2 Million Per Day, The Increase Of Chicken Eggs' Price Is Expected To Be Able To Cover The Farmers' Losses

MALANG - The increase in the price of broiler eggs in the last few weeks is expected to be able to cover losses incurred due to the drop in commodity prices in the previous months.

An employee of the Haji Yasin Laying Chicken Farm, Dani Uluf Suwanda, said that the price of chicken eggs had increased for the last two weeks or so.

"Now the price of chicken eggs has increased, but it is a compensation when the price of chicken eggs has fallen for the past few months," said Dani in Malang City, East Java, Thursday, December 16.

Dani explained, in 2021 the price of chicken eggs will fall in a long period of up to six months. The losses experienced by the farmers ranged from Rp1 million to Rp2 million per day.

In addition, he continued, to reduce the losses incurred, laying hens breeders also conduct early rejects of productive age chickens. Currently, the price of chicken eggs is improving in the range of Rp20 thousand to Rp22 thousand per kilogram at the farmer level.

"Yesterday's losses ranged from Rp1 million to Rp2 million per day, when the price of eggs touched Rp13,000 per kilogram. Currently, the price of eggs from cages is already in the range of Rp22,000 per kilogram," he said as quoted by Antara.

Currently, he continued, the breeders are also increasing the supply of their chickens because when the price of eggs plummeted, they had to do an early rejection. The addition of the laying hens has not been able to increase productivity.

"Production is still the same, there has been no increase even though there are new brooders. Because this is still not the peak of production, it is still young," said Dani.

The current condition is that the price of chicken eggs has gradually improved, but the price of feed is still relatively high.

He added that currently, the price of chicken feed ranges from Rp5,500 to Rp5,700 per kilogram. Laying hens expect the price of animal feed to drop in the price range of Rp4,000 to Rp5,000 per kilogram.

"The price of ordinary corn is Rp5,500 per kilogram, for selep corn, Rp5,700 per kilogram, it is still too expensive. At normal times, the standard is Rp4,000-Rp5,000 per kilogram," he said.

Some time ago, the price of chicken eggs dropped to Rp13,000 per kilogram at the farmer level. The fall in the price of chicken eggs was due to the abundant supply at that time and suppressed the price of these commodities.

With the increase in supply, consumer demand also decreases and causes the price of chicken eggs to plummet.
