Agus Gumiwang Ensures That The Golkar Party's Presidential Candidate In 2024 Is Airlangga Hartarto

Jakarta - Even though the political constellation is always dynamic, the Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar Party Central Executive Board (DPP) Agus Gumiwang ensures that the Golkar Party does not open up other options other than carrying Airlangga Hartarto in the 2024 presidential election.

Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita emphasized that the decision had become the party's decision at meetings at all levels, from the National Working Meeting, National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) to the National Conference (Munas). "So for us, Golkar has no option. We will carry Pak Airlangga as a presidential candidate for 2024," said Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar Party Agus Gumiwang at the Golkar Party DPP Office, Slipi, West Jakarta, Friday, December 10.

During the release of the Semeru Airlangga Volunteer for Indonesia (RELASI) disaster relief event, Agus Gumiwang had time to respond to the proposal from the DPP Chairperson of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) Mardani Ali Sera that the coalition of political parties and presidential candidates (candidates) be announced from the start.

The Minister of Industry gave a signal that the Golkar Party was interested in the proposal. "Try asking PKS what the reason is. Maybe we have the same reason," said Agus Gumiwang.

Agus said he wanted to hear PKS' reasons why it was necessary to declare a presidential candidate from the start. "I also want to hear the reasons from PKS. Those who say that the presidential candidate must be declared earlier," he said.

Previously, the chairman of the PKS DPP, Mardani Ali Sera, called for political parties to declare presidential candidates from now on. He hoped that the presidential and vice-presidential candidates would not be declared at the last minute of registration to the General Election Commission (KPU) as happens in every election.

Mardani said this could make the public better understand the potential leaders. Including the matter of the coalition that should have been done long ago. “I agree that the political parties will conduct a coalition and explore ahead of time. So don't buy a cat in a sack," said Mardani to the media, Monday, December 6.

Mardani also believes that there will be big surprises in the 2024 General Election. Moreover, Mardani said, there is still no definite ticket for the nomination. “There is still a long time and there is no certainty about tickets. When the coalition of political parties has taken place and the allocation of tickets is clear, the stage will change," said Mardani.

Although Agus Gumiwang appreciates Mardani Ali Sera's proposal regarding the publication of presidential and vice-presidential candidates in 2024, for Golkar, Agus Gumiwang asserts, they have remained solid in supporting Airlangga Hartarto. Will there be any changes? We will see later.
