Cyber Building Fire Cripples A Number Of Applications, Losses Unknown
JAKARTA - The fire that occurred in the Cyber 1 Building on Kuningan Barat Raya Street, Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta, on Thursday (2/12/2021) afternoon, disrupted a number of internet-based service providers.
It was even reported that some applications and web hosting services experienced problems and could not operate normally. It is not known exactly how much damage was caused by the disturbance caused by this fire.
So far, the Cyber Building has become one of the storage locations for servers or data centers for a number of internet-based technology companies in Indonesia. Those affected began to report the incident through a number of social media accounts, especially Twitter.
Not only that, but this fire has also caused disruption to the internet network for several hours. Starting at around 14.00 western Indonesia time, residents' internet service also experienced problems, as a result of the fire.
A netizen named Daniel Tantra Wiratama, found that his Ipot and Magic stock applications were having problems. In a screenshot of the Magic application that Daniel included, a notification reads "Attention please. The data center has experienced a fire incident, while there will be disruptions in transactions".
To make matters worse, two Indonesian web hosting service providers, Niagahoster and Rumahweb also announced that their services were experiencing disruption due to a fire at Cyber 1 Building. The disruption was announced through their official accounts.

"Because most of the networks in Indonesia rely on the building, including the data center that Niagahoster uses (DCI), causing temporary disruption to the Indonesian server," wrote the official Niagahoster account. They confirmed this disturbance was due to the fire that occurred.
IPOT Financial applications belonging to PT Indo Premier Sekuritas also experienced problems. An Indo Premier Sekuritas source issued an official statement regarding the disruption via their Twitter account.
Not only technology companies, but the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of DKI Jakarta Province was also affected by this fire. Through its official Twitter account, BPBD Jakarta said that for the time being the Jakarta Siaga call center service with number 112 could not be reached.
