Sandiaga Uno Discusses The Potential For Cooperation In The Creative Economy Sector With The Ambassador Of Morocco
JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno discussed the potential for cooperation in the creative economy sector with Moroccan Ambassador Ouadia Benabdellah because Indonesia and Morocco do not yet have a Memorandum of Understanding/MoU in this sector.
Sandiaga hopes that cooperation with Morocco can strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the tourism and creative economy sectors.
"Hopefully, we can work together and collaborate with each other in developing tourism and the creative economy in both countries," he said when meeting in Jakarta as in a press statement, Jakarta, Saturday.
Collaboration between Indonesia and Morocco is considered to be able to promote and present quality and sustainable tourism.
One of the potential cooperation discussed by the two countries is to discuss the potential for cooperation in the organization of international events.
Morocco is one of the countries that contributes the largest tourism to Indonesia, from quantity to spending money. It was noted that before the COVID-19 pandemic, Moroccan tourist visits to Indonesia in 2017 reached 11.000.

Moroccan Ambassador to Indonesia Ouadia Benabdellah said that Moroccan tourists have something in common with Indonesian tourists, namely, they tend to stay long enough in the destination country and buy creative economy products.
"Indonesia and Morocco have something in common when they travel, they come to stay for a long time, then they are both happy to buy typical handicraft products in that country, and go home with lots of suitcases to share with their relatives," he said.
Furthermore, Ouadia said that in 2019, the art of Moroccan Sahrawi was present at the opening of the 2019 International Creative Crafts Exhibition.
Sandiaga Uno hopes that in the future Morocco can be involved again in international activities owned by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf). In addition, it is also hoped that international events owned by Morocco such as the Rabat Festival can be collaborated with Indonesia.
