2022 East Kalimantan Minimum Wage Increases By Rp33,000 To Rp3,014,497

SAMARINDA - The minimum wage in East Kalimantan Province is set to increase 1.1 percent from Rp2,981,378 or Rp33,000 to Rp3,014,497 in 2022.

"We hope that the determination of the East Kalimantan UMP for 2022 will be well received so that East Kalimantan will remain conducive," said Head of the East Kalimantan Province Manpower and Transmigration Office, Suroto, as quoted in a government press release received in Samarinda, reported by Antara, Thursday, November 18.

He said that the determination of the provincial minimum wage (UMP) was carried out referring to Government Regulation Number 36 of 2021 concerning Wages.

In accordance with the new wage regulations, the determination of the minimum wage is based on economic and labor conditions.

According to the provisions, the calculation of the minimum wage is based on data on economic growth, inflation, purchasing power parity, labor absorption rates, and median wages from the Central Statistics Agency.

"Unlike the previous UMP determination, which used Government Regulation Number 78 of 2015 concerning Wages, it is still possible to calculate how much the necessities of life are, and there are still differences of opinion," said Suroto.

He hopes that companies and workers in East Kalimantan will accept the amount of UMP set by the provincial government.

Suroto added that the determination of the East Kalimantan UMP for 2022 had been signed by the Governor of East Kalimantan on November 17, 2021.

"The announcement of the value of the East Kalimantan UMP according to the instructions of the Minister of Manpower is no later than November 20, 2021, starting from January to December 2022," he said.

"The UMP whose value has been determined must be known to the public and published no later than November 20, 2021," he added.
