Four Villages In Kudus Hit By Flood
KUDUS - Heavy rains have caused flooding in four villages in Kudus Regency, Central Java.
"One village is still experiencing flooding in Jojo Village (Mejobo District), while other villages that are also experiencing flooding such as Bulung Cangkring, Bulung Kulon, and Klaling (Jekulo District) have receded", said the Daily Executive Head of the Kudus Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Budi Waluyo, quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 18.
One of the factors causing the flooding, he said, was that the river that should have been able to accommodate rainwater turned out to be shallow, and the water flow overflowed to the settlements of Jojo Village residents. The puddles don't recede quickly or take longer.
Despite the flood inundation up to 30 centimeters high, there have been no reports of residents' houses being flooded due to the rain on Wednesday, November 17 that night. While many residents' access roads are flooded, but their activities are still normal.
Regarding the inundation in Jojo Village, the Kudus BPBD has coordinated with the Pemali-Juana River Basin Center (BBWS) to normalize the Juwana River because its current capacity is reduced.

Meanwhile, Mejobo Sub-district Head, Aan Fitriyanto, added that the normalization of the Juwana I River is indeed one solution to overcome flood inundation in Jojo Village and its surroundings.
The inundated water also comes from rice fields in the Kerawang area, but the water cannot flow directly into the Juwana I River due to siltation.
"We have also coordinated with BBWS and the information is asking officers in the field to close the door upstream so that water entering the JU I River is prioritized from the Jojo Village area", he said.
Until now, he said, the flood in Jojo Village had not subsided, but no one entered the residents' houses so that residents' activities were still normal, although many access roads were flooded with a height of between 20-30 cm.
