JAKARTA - Israel's attack on Friday morning near the border of the Lebanese Masnaa with Syria cut off the road used by hundreds of thousands of people to escape Israeli airstrikes in recent days.

Lebanese Transport Minister Ali Hamieh said the attack took place within Lebanese territory near the border, creating a hole four meters wide on Friday, October 4.

A military spokesman for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) accused Lebanese armed group Hezbollah on Thursday of using the cross to transport military equipment to Lebanon.

"IDF will not allow the smuggling of these weapons and will not hesitate to act if forced, as has been done during this war," IDF spokesman Avichay Adraee told X.

Hamieh said the crossing was subject to the authorities of the Lebanese state.

According to Lebanese government statistics, more than 300,000 people "most of them Syrians" have crossed from Lebanon to Syria over the past 10 days to avoid escalating Israeli bombings.
