JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Health Office mitigates the risk of transmission of the Newlade Bird Flu virus to be aware of extraordinary incidents (KLB) of diseases transmitted from poultry.

"We must be able to mitigate so that it does not become a problem in DKI Jakarta and Indonesia", said the Head of the DKI Health Office, Widyastuti, quoted from Antara, Thursday, March 2.

One of the mitigations carried out includes understanding or education to prevent the transmission of bird flu to the public.

The DKI Health Office is also preparing in terms of clinical health, including hospitals, health centres, clinics and health-related professional organizations.

Until now, she continued, the New Clade Bird Flu case in Jakarta has not been detected but it is necessary to carry out comprehensive mitigation.

The reason, he continued, is that DKI Jakarta has a high level of population mobility so it has a high risk of transmitting the bird flu virus.

"The risk level in Jakarta is relatively higher than other provinces", she added.

The emergence of two deaths due to the new variant of bird flu, namely New Clade 2.3.4.4b virus influenza A or H5N1 in Cambodia, has again made several countries including Indonesia implement vigilance.

"With information on bird flu cases in Cambodia, we must both be able to mitigate", added Widyastuti.

The previous case of bird flu appeared in Indonesia in 2005. Widyastuti explained that at that time the H5N1 case in Jakarta was higher than in other regions in the country.

In 2006, she said, there were 55 cases with a high death rate of 45 cases.

Cases of bird flu transmission in Jakarta and Indonesia, she said, then continued to decline until it reappeared in 2017.

"Avian flu transmission is currently still originating from poultry and there is no clear information that says human-to-human transmission", she said.
